The Winners of the 2019 Canadian Comedy Awards

The 2019 Canadian Comedy Awards was held at The Second City Toronto on June 4. Many Canadian comedy artists were given awards for their magnificent works in the media of television, live telecast, and online productions, alongside all the artists who have done multimedia performances. Some of Canada’s best comedians are also part time fishermen. Others are mothers who are raising kids and writing funny sketches.

The awards were categorized into four categories: Multimedia, Live, Television, and Online production. All awardees were present during the event and were all well-applauded for bagging the awards for their exemplary comedy performances.

Catherine O’Hara won in the Multimedia awards as this year’s comedic artist. Pogey Beach and Being Andy Serkis were awarded as this year’s best feature and short comic skit respectively. Mark Little and Matthew Atkinson both won awards for Room for Rent, that both won the best feature in performance and best feature in writing. Gavin Crawford’s Because News in CBC won the Best Audio Series or Show.

Live comedy performances are also awarded this year. The acclaimed Baroness Von Sketch Show has just won this year’s best television show and Alice Moran-Crawford on her best performance award for television series. The show also garnered a lot of awards especially in directing and writing.

The internet performances were also recognized for their hilarious content and laugh-out-loud performances. The short internet series, A Gay Victorian Affair, won a lot of awards this year, alongside all the performers and directors who made the short web video.

Everyone had a great time at this year’s Comedy Awards, and many had a great laugh over the winner’s messages. The nominees who haven’t won this year hoped to bag the awards in 2020.
