The following categories are voted upon by both industry and public voters. Registered public voters may submit to these categories.
Canadian Comedy Person of the Year
Canadian Comedy Person of the Year is awarded to the person who the public votes as Canada's top funny person in the previous calendar year. An industry jury selects nominees based upon suggestions from the public.
Best Feature Film
Best Feature Film is awarded to a Canadian comedic feature (minimum 60 minutes runtime) first screened, or opened in its first run, on television, in a public theatrical screening, or released digitally online, in Canada during the previous calendar year.
Best TV Show
Best TV Show is awarded to a Canadian comedic television show (minimum 11 minutes runtime) that had at least 2 serialized episodes broadcast on television in Canada in the previous broadcast year (May 1 of last year to April 30 of this year). Episodes from that season cannot be submitted the following year. If the same content was distributed on both TV and online, the show may only be eligible for either Best TV Series or Best Web Series.
Best Web Series
Best Web Series is awarded to a Canadian comedic web series packaged as a series with either the same format or narrative, with a minimum of 5 episodes broadcast digitally online in Canada during the previous calendar year. Episodes from that season cannot be submitted the following year. If the same content was distributed on both TV and online, the series may only be eligible for either Best TV Series or Best Web Series.
Best Comedy Short
Best Comedy Short is awarded to a piece of short format content (under 60 minutes) that was broadcast, publicly screened, or released digitally on the Internet, in the previous calendar year. This must be a stand-alone piece; it cannot be an episode from a series.
Best Radio Program or Clip
Best Radio Program or Clip is awarded to a radio program or clip, with a minimum running time of three minutes, that was created for broadcast on radio and aired during the previous calendar year. If the same content was distributed on both radio and online, you may only be eligible for either Best Radio Program or Clip or Best Podcast.
Best Podcast
Best Podcast is awarded to an audio podcast that was created for the Internet with at least 12 episodes that were first posted on the Internet during the previous calendar year. At least one of the hosts of the podcast must be Canadian. If the same content was distributed on both radio and online, you may only be eligible for either Best Radio Program or Clip or Best Podcast.
