2013 Criteria Changes
Formats replace Channels
Grouped categories are now based on formats (Long, Short, Live) rather than distribution channels (Film, TV, Radio, Internet, Live).
Long Format
Replacing and expanding upon the previous Film division, these awards go to Canadian comedic features (minimum 60 minutes runtime) first screened, or opened in their first run, on television, in a public theatrical screening, or released digitally online, in Canada during the previous calendar year.

Short Format
Web has been attached to the talent categories of the previous TV division - direction, writing and male, female & ensemble performances.
The previous category Web Clip has been changed to Best Comedy Short, and is no longer limited to Web distribution.
If the same content was distributed on both TV and the Internet, the content may only be eligible for either Best TV Series or Best Web Series.
If the same content was distributed on both Radio and the Internet, the content may only be eligible for either Best Radio Program/Clip or Best Podcast.
In the categories of Best Direction in a TV or Web Series and Best Writing in a TV or Web Series, the submission must be for a single episode of that series.

Live Format
Taped Live Performance has been moved from its previous TV division into the Live Format division; the criteria itself has not changed.
All live performance categories in Live Format have had their qualifying shows made consistent - 12 shows of a minimum of 30 consecutive minutes or more in the previous calendar year, with a minimum of 8 of those shows being performed in Canada. Qualifying performances for live production categories (Best Comedic Play/Revue/Series and Best One-Person Show) are unchanged - 5 shows of a minimum of 30 consecutive minutes.
All qualifying performances must have been performed in a venue that holds a minimum of 30 legal seats.
For submissions to Sketch Troupe and Improv Troupe, if part of a theatre company, troupes must be billed in a way that denotes the troupe itself rather than the company producing the show.
Best Standup Newcomer has been replaced by Best Breakout Artist. It is awarded to a live format artist - stand-up, improviser, sketch performer, etc. - who has had a breakout year. Artists may submit themselves, or be submitted by a third party and confirmed with the artist. However, an artist may only be submitted to this category twice in their lifetime and may only be nominated once in their lifetime.
